The Talibans got their demolition skills from Former Prime Minister.of India,  Atal Bihari Vajpayee

Killing of Nepalis – an evil act

Dear Editor,

Just what manner of men are these Islamic militants who will brutally murder one dozen Nepalis because they are Bhuddists? Similarly the Talibans destroyed two-thousand-year-old statues of Buddha because they are not Islamic.

For me one thing is quite clear. President George Bush's invasion of Iraq was an evil act, but the Islamic militants that murder their hostages are much more evil.

And as you know, France was opposed to the Bush/Blair invasion of Iraq, but now with the kidnapping of the French reporters, depending on the outcome it might very well affect how the French government behaves in the future.

What the militants must understand is that France is not an Islamic state, but it has done more for justice for the Iraqi people than all the Muslim countries put together.

So those who hold the French reporters had better get wise and let the French make their laws to suit their country.

No army

Dear Editor,

There is a call for the army to resume patrols in the terror corridor of Buxton. I appeal to the decision-makers to seriously consider not doing so.

If one is to statistically measure the army's performance during their one year presence on the East Coast you will see a terrible rate of failure. The army to some extent provided a cover for the criminals.

I will remember the army for the doing the following: watching the criminals burn the Chester's family home, arresting the so-called phantom squad who were hunting and taking out the notorious criminals and the most memorable operation - the arrest of a panty thief!

No run-away vigilantes

Dear Editor,

Once again we see the resurgence of violent crime around our country and persons are again making noise for arms.

I agree that citizens have a right to protect themselves and Community Policing Groups are a sure way of countering crime.

I believe that the heavy-arms toting scoundrels who are terrorizing the innocent and murdering children should be shot on the spot and communities should be equipped to protect themselves.

However, I only ask that when we license a person to carry a firearm and make him into a Rural Constable, that such a person be carefully screened.

It is commendable the way the Government and the police propose to deal with the crime situation, but citizens now have the responsibility of ensuring that those who undertake to protect the villages are of sound character.

We do not want run-away vigilantes.
